Redwood Owners Group - Board Of Directors

Andy Patterson (Oriana) - President

Andy and his wife Judi, of Metro Vancouver, British Columbia purchased their 2013 Redwood 36FL in December 2012 and in the first four years of ownership have completed over 25,000 miles coast to coast.

Born and brought up in bonnie Scotland, on graduating from Madras College in St Andrews, Andy elected to pursue a career in travel, rather than attend university. His first choice was flying, but British Airways had just closed their school, so he opted for his 2nd choice and ran away to sea with P&O/Princess Cruises, as a Deck Officer, or Navigator. Andy and Judi met aboard the SS Oriana while Judi was a passenger taking a cruise from Vancouver to Sydney, Australia.

Married in Vancouver, Andy completed one more voyage before deciding that life aboard cruise ships was not conducive to married life, so he resigned and joined the local ferries as a Deck Officer. Quickly attaining command at only 27 years of age, Andy spent 33 years with the ferries, retiring in December 2013.

Andy and Judi have a son and daughter, one grandson, one GSD dog and one cat. Throughout the years, Andy was heavily involved in volunteer activities, having coached both kids in soccer, officiated many soccer matches and performed numerous roles for the local soccer club, including President. He was also Chairman of the local Nautical Institute Branch and a member of the HQ Finance and General Purposes Committee. Andy is also a member of the Masonic Lodge, with his mother Lodge being St Andrew # 25 in St Andrews, Scotland.

In addition to soccer, Andy’s interests include planning their travels, photography, cruising, walking, cycling, swimming and maintaining their travel blog.

Al McClughan (ALMCC) - Vice President

Al is a retired Professional Engineer (a designated P.Eng in Canada, the equivalent of a P.E. In the US). He studied mechanical engineering and after graduation started working in industry, first as a project engineer, then progressing to maintenance engineering and finally plant management (where the “people problems” were more difficult to solve compared to the “engineering problems”!).

With a young family Al and his wife started Rving in the 1970's, starting with a truck camper and transitioning to 5th wheels. Al's Redwood 36RL is the families 5th 5er and in retirement winters are spent in southern California and some camping is done in northern Canada in the summer.

RV travels have taken the family from the “end of the road” in Alaska to the other end of the road in Newfoundland, and to the Pacific coast of Mexico south of Mazatlan. A number of US states have been covered and Al hopes to add to that count in future years.

Al has an interest in understanding and “tinkering” with RV's and helping others improving the RV experience. He's also a bit of a computer “geek” having started with IBM punch cards in university and transitioning to Windows 10. On travels satellite internet services are utilized where cell based services are non-existent (but those places are becoming less common these days!)

Al looks forward to continuing to participate and to help grow the ROG!

Shelley Struble

Shelley Struble - Secretary

Shelley and her husband Ken are new to the RV world. Having only towed a rented pop-up tent trailer once, and researching as many units as they could; they decided on a 2014 36FB in February of 2014. Originally from Michigan, she and Ken moved to Palacios, Texas over 30 years ago and raised their two daughters there.

She retired from her duties as an office manager for a Shrimp farm and processing facility in November of 2014; but still continues to enjoy her part-time job as an embroiderer and digitizer in her home-based business. Her husband Ken retired in February of 2015 from the nuclear industry and now enjoys fishing and the outdoors as much as possible.

Waiting for the right time to go “full-time” at this point, they only travel for 6 months out of the year and still call Texas their home base.

Lisa Price (PricelessRVAdventures) - Treasurer

Lisa worked for several Christian non-profit organizations over the course of 26 years. She finished her work career as VP of Operations for a Credit Counseling organization. She spent 16 years helping individuals and families get out of debt and manage their personal budgets. She is still passionate about encouraging others to identify their dreams and find the tools to accomplish those dreams.

Lisa and George have 3 daughters, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandbabies.

Lisa and her husband, George, started their love for camping almost 30 years ago. After 26 years in their home in Colorado Springs, Colorado, they decided to sell everything and choose an easier, simpler life—full timing in an RV. Their 2014 38RL Redwood 5th wheel has made this life adventure easier; because all the comforts of a house are in their Redwood home.

Their faith is an important part of each step of their lives. Believing that life should not only be lived—it should be celebrated; and they are Celebrating Life one mile at a time around our beautiful country.

Lisa's career included managing finances at multiple organizations.  She served as Secretary/Treasurer for a Colorado non-profit, maintaining a budget of over $1 million.  Her job as a Credit Counselor involved managing the finances of over 500 individuals and families.

Terry Barber (NW Snowbirds) - Director At Large - Technical Committee

Terry was born in Baltimore and he and Sherry emigrated to Seattle in search of a different life style many years ago. They are both retired and residents of Anacortes, Washington in the San Juan Islands.

Terry is a graduate mechanical engineer from Lafayette College and Sherry is a graduate of Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. They have three grown children and four grandchildren.

Terry was the President of the North American subsidiary of a large Swedish manufacturer of industrial refrigeration machinery for 16 years. In 1990 he founded his own refrigeration manufacturing and contracting company and grew it to $70 million in sales in ten years before selling his interest to York International. He has served on four non profit boards and three corporate boards including chairman of a large national trade association based in Washington, DC.

As avid sailors Terry and Sherry explored the waters between Seattle and Alaska. After 23 years and three sailing boats they decided to try RVing and motorcycling. Their 31SL is their first 5th wheel and they have put 20,000 miles on it traveling the western states. They spend 5 months a year in their Redwood including snow birding in the winters. Terry is also an avid motorcyclist and restores antique motorcycles as a hobby. He founded the Washington Vintage Motorcyclists organization and remains an active participant.

Elliott Thomas (ElliottandVicky) - Director At Large - Membership

Elliott and his wife, Vicki, call Yarmouth, Maine home. He grew up outside of Boston, MA and graduated from Boston College with a degree in geology. He worked for several engineering companies and the USEPA while living in New Hampshire and Maine. Elliott and Vicki started an environmental consulting company which they ran until retirement. Elliott worked half time at the firm and half time as the captain of his commercial lobster boat. Continued work as a lobsterman keeps them in Maine for 6 months of the year, while the rest of the time they spend on the road.

He met Vicki through a mutual friend at a Vermont ski area, and they have enjoyed the sport since they met. Scuba diving has also been a mutual sport for them since the early 80's, and they traveled extensively throughout the eastern portion of the Caribbean to pursue the sport.

Elliott and Vicky started tent camping prior to their marriage in 1972, and graduated from a tent to a pickup camper to a travel trailer. After more than a year of research and visits to RV dealers, they selected a 2014 Redwood 36RE which has been towed 15,000 miles since they bought it, from Maine to southern California over two winter trips.

He has been involved in many volunteer organizations over many years, including teaching first aid and CPR for the American Red Cross, and also served as a National Ski Patrolman over a 25 year period, both on the slopes and as a member of the regional staff. He also spent 22 years as a volunteer firefighter and EMT.

Elliott has served on the Board of Advisors for the Lobster Institute at the University of Maine, and is currently on the Board of Directors of the Maine Lobstermen’s Association, the largest commercial fishermen's organization on the east coast.

Joe Dombrowski (Ford Truck Guy) - Director At Large - Nominations

Joe was born in Philadelphia, and his family quickly moved out to the suburbs. He currently resides the SE portion of Pennsylvania , just outside the Philadelphia

Joe met his wife when he was 19 years old , and knew she was the one , she was not so sure ! That was 34 years ago , and they are still each other's best friends ! It was not until he met his wife, that he was exposed to camping in an RV. After a short period, they purchased their first RV which was a 1984 19' Corsair. Shortly they realized that camping was for them and they kept trading up until they settled on their "16" 38 RL.

Joe has a background in trucking , and he still carries his CDL Class A license. He drove flatbeds based out of the Phila area up to Boston , and down to SC with all points in between. That is where he became comfortable towing, when asked about pulling the Redwood, he compares it to the 60' stretch trailers that he used to deliver steel on..

Joe and his wife have 2 daughters ( ages 18 & 23 ) that still actually want to camp with them as much as possible , not too many folks can say that !

Joe is the Vice president-operations of a steel Service Center that has 10 facilities from Boston to Charlotte and as far west as Cleveland, with the corporate offices located in South Eastern PA. He travels to all of them weekly and takes the camper every chance he gets!
