TOPIC: Flooring

We just had all the Lino and carpet removed and had vinyl wood planking installed. What a difference. The inside looks much larger now. Much easier to keep clean :)

I had a flooring co. do it. Took them 2 days. I originally checked with numerous RV remodel/repair outfits and they wanted double the price and the trailer for 3 days at their shop. These guys came to the park we are in to do it

Looks GREAT!!!!!
Is that a direct glue down or a ship-lap adhesive floating type? Just curious because of the slides.

Steve it is glue down. It was a hair thicket than the original lino that was not glued down

How much weight did it add (or take away)?

Recall the cost?

I've thought about that, but weight is/was the issue.

It does not weigh anymore than the lino and carpet.if you replaced with wood or laminate it would add weight. App 1700 replaced

Shane, what type vinyl wood planking did you use? It looks great and I would like to do something similar.
Thanks

John
I do not have the name in front of me
It is a glued in place vinyl. Very durable and just slightly thicker than the original lino

Hi Shane;

We are wanting to do the same thing. DW is worried about how it will look at the door side slide with that black strip (not sure what it is called) I showed her the photo of yours but unable to see detail. Any way you could upload a close up?

Have also read on other forums that there have been problems with the plank coming loose. Have you had any problems?

Am also curious how difficult it was to remove the carpet from under the credenza, under the kitchen slide and the wardrobe in the BR.

Thank you in advance.

Bob,
We have also been looking at installing the vinyl flooring planks. We are thinking George can probably do the install. Several sites talk about "Luxury vinyl planks" I'm not sure if that is a brand or a different kind of product. I am at the research stage. Keep us posted on what you find.

"Luxury vinyl planks" or tile is one of the better ways to go. Whatever your choice is make sure it is a full spread glue down. You don't want any floating or self stick tiles as they won't last. If you find self stick you absolutely need to still do a full spread with VCT adhesive.
Subfloor prep is crucial to a long lasting floor and especially with the adhesion. Not sure what is under the carpet but it must be clean, flat and able to accept moister as the adhesive drys unlike some of the particle boards that can not.
